Who would have thought your little girl is a professional at getting her locks into tangles. Whether she has long or short hair, there are styles and tips to keep her hair ouch and tangle free:
All down with a headband:
This works best if your girl’s hair is no longer than her shoulders. The best way to keep it tangle free is to wash her hair with shampoo and a mild conditioner. After bathing use a comb to brush her hair out. Let it dry naturally and place a comfortable headband on her head. Try to get a firm fabric one or a light plastic one with teeth, the more comfortable it is, the less likely she will take it off.
Braids:
Not only are braids adorable but easy and come in many different sizes and forms. Try braiding one braid down the middle or two on the sides. This is a great way to keep her hair smooth and soft. And she will love the look of them once you take them out. Hello 80’s crimp!
Pony Tail:
Pony tails are great for play time and recess. A pony too high can cause discomfort, and a pony too low can get messy. Trying making a clean, brushed back pony in the middle of her head and tying it with a soft hair band that is tight enough to keep it in place. Simple and something even Dad can do!
Half up, half down:
Wearing her hair half up and half down is a sweet and simple look for school. Keeping the hair divided is great for girls with longer hair. The top part is brushed back and fastened together at the middle of the head, just like the pony tail. Make sure it lays flat to avoid any messiness. Comb the bottom half and apply detangle spray.
Two Pigtails:
Probably one of the most popular and cutest trends for little girls is the two pig tails. This great for all lengths, divide right down the middle of her head and evenly disperse hair on each side. Fasten with strong bands that do not pull the hair.
Avoid clips. The more things you have in her hair, the more likely she will play with them or have a chance to fall out, causing a mess. Don’t forget to comb through her hair before selecting a hair style. A trick is to start at the bottom of her hair and slowly work your way up with the comb, eventually brushing her hair from the very top and running it through to the bottom. And don’t forget to apply the detangle spray after her bath.
